1985年至今，任教于华中科技大学，现任电气与电子工程学院教授。
1981年考入华中工学院（现华中科技大学）电力系统及其自动化专业，1985年获工学学士学位。
1987年考入华中理工大学（现华中科技大学）理论电工专业，1990年获工学硕士学位。
1995年晋升为华中科技大学副教授。
2006年获华中科技大学电力系统及其自动化专业工学博士学位。
2007年晋升为华中科技大学教授。
教学领域：电路理论、电磁场理论。
研究领域：电力系统可靠性、电气化铁路供电技术、电力设备状态监测与诊断。
Prof. Yan Qiurong, PhD on power system and its automation. She fundamental theory of electrical engineering. Research direction includes reliability evaluation of electrical power , techniques of railway power supply and electrical equipment condition monitoring and diagnosis.
